FAQ
Here are some questions I am most frequently asked about jazz music.
Q. What is Jazz?
A. Jazz is an African-American art form that was created by musicians in New Orleans Louisiana in the early 1900's. They combined the African and African-American musical elements with the European musical traditions learned in the marching bands of the time. It's main format is found in the Blues and popular song form (AABA).
Can non-black people understand jazz?
A. Yes! While much of the music is written by African-Americans, it is music that deals with the human experience and everyone can relate to that.
